Nintendo Wii Downside
Being uncharacteristically absent from the gaming scene for some time now, Nintendo has finally woken up and
started to pick up where it left off with the introduction of the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo was synonymous to gaming in the 80’s and has since
relinquished such distinction to Microsoft and Sony from recent years. While they were still present through their Game Cube series, the
impact and the market share that they had initially had has since diminished.
With the Nintendo Wii, they hope to make up for lost ground. But from all indications, the name itself does not
have the same impact that other players already have on the gaming market consumer. The Nintendo Wii is actually just a re-introduction of
sorts from the original title that of which was Nintendo Revolution.
While the old name had an impact but still failed to get the needed attention, the more that Wii (pronounced as
We) lacks the entire impact on the consumers. But as the manufacturers say, this is the name to stay and do not care less of what people may
say about the gaming device, a big risk that may spell disaster for Nintendo.
Another point for consideration is the fact that they do not have a wide selection of games to play yet. Most of
the available games today are that of their specialties like Zelda and Madden Football. Other games are still to be seen and the variety of
games and types is something that will be a key attraction for people hooked up on gaming.
While the features and gadgets that Nintendo Wii has proves to be intriguing, Nintendo better finalize and
stabilize everything from name to games if it wants to reclaim all its lost glory in the gaming scene today.
