YES IT IS SAFE I HAD THE SOFT MODDED WII AND I WENT ONLINE ALL THE TIME AS A MATTER OF FACT I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT UNTILL MY WII STOPPED READING MY BACKED UP GAMES BUT IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH GOING ONLINE I HAD THE HARD MOD DONE WITH THE CHIP AND I STILL GON ONLINE NOW BUT DO NOT UPDATE THE WII IF ITS SOFT MOD IT WILL UNDO ALL THE MODDING JUST CANCEL THE UPDATE AND GO ONLINE
