Is it illegal to own the homebrew channel on the wii if you’re not downloading/playing illegally dloaded games?
I was just curious. My friend told me about bannerbomb, and I was really interested but not fond of illegal activity so I won't do it until i get a definite yes or no.
-Is it illegal to have it on the wii?
-Is it illegal to download and use apps?

Some of these answers are seriously ticking me off.
It is NOT illegal to install and use the homebrew channel, DVDX, and/or BooMii. It is also NOT illegal to use and run homebrew applications..
The reasoning for this is simple:
1)While you break the EULA by installing homebrew, the EULA was written by Nintendo. Nintendo does make computer software/hardware laws, the government does. In short: the EULA means nothing. Even less so in some countries than others.
2)All Homebrew code is original. Not a single line of homebrew code is shared with a single line of official code.
3)You can do whatever the hell you want with your Wii. You purchased it. You can decide what to do with it. Nintendo can not tell you what to do with your Wii.
I've spent literally hours debating this on WiiBrew and Tehskeen and other sites in the "homebrew scene" along with marcan, bushing (the two fathers of Wii Homebrew) and other people "high up". The result of every debate has always been reached the following conclusion: HOMEBREW IS NOT ILLEGAL
everything is illegal
the man is watching you right now
don't panic though
take something
did you you know j-walking is illegal?
just cause something is illegal (in this case, its not) dosent mean its its as bad as murder. install it, nintendo CANT catch you and even if they did theres nothing they could do. its YOUR wii, when you bought it you now OWN it.
